Dear Friends and Family,
Summer at Happy Canyon Vineyard has been an exceptional one. The long warm days have been enjoyed by the family on the polo field and trail, in the reservoir and under the shady oaks of the vineyard. Looking out past the borders of our ranch to Hwy 154 I can see the burned hills from last August's fire start to sprout vegetation and lose the black char they once held. Our thoughts and prayers are with our California neighbors now struggling with this years devastating fires. As I stare at the horizon, I am taken by natures's endless cycle. Where there was once black ash there is now lush and fertile land. Last years vintage will hold that memory with a slight embrace of smoke and ash, while this years' has experienced near perfect conditions. Each year carries old traditions and unique surprises.
We have had a wonderful polo season at the ranch this summer, though it too has its cycles. One of our best playing ponies for the last decade, Bubbles, passed away this summer. She will be remembered by us all for her beauty and calm demeanor. This was her last season but the first for other ponies. The ranch and the vineyard are forever evolving and changing. We love and respect what has come before and work diligently to prepare for what comes next.
We look forward to sharing with you the next evolutions from our family and our vineyard.
