Executive Winemaker & Managing Director
Dear Friends and Family,
It’s springtime in the Santa Ynez Valley and we are looking forward to another great year in the vineyard. The beautiful green grass on the rolling hills and mountains surrounding the Santa Barbara coastal region is now fading to brown. Our entire vineyard is now sprouting with bud break and there is beautiful contrast in the color of the bright green vine leaves amongst the brown surroundings. With the beauty we see every day, we certainly feel blessed, but we continue to pray for more rain. The rains we did get this year helped with our water reserves and the vineyard is nicely flushed – so there is no doubt that we’re set up again for another great growing year! More beautiful wines are on the way.
As I was running through Happy Canyon the other day looking at the vineyards, I was reminded of why we are here and do what we do. For us it’s all about three things: (1) First and foremost family, (2) Second, a passion for sharing our love of polo and wine and (3) Third, the pursuit of excellence. Our story begins with my father-in-law who has instilled in us a sense of humility that when blended with just the right amount of passion and competitive fire, results in what we do – making the best wine possible. We have the unbelievable privilege to share these wines with you and we are honored that you are a part of what we do.
There is much more to our story and the legacy we aim to create. We just launched our updated website and with it, a wonderful video narrated by Tom Barrack, who tells the story of who we are and why we have started down this wonderful journey. I invite to visit our updated website and see this truly inspiring video: www.happycanyonvineyard.com
