Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you know how our ranch and wine got it’s name..Piocho, means “where two rivers meet and go to heaven”. This winter we had a rare opportunity to view those two rivers in action! The “100 year storm” that we saw in February brought a new life and excitement to our ranch and vineyard. Both rivers were flowing at a rate we haven’t seen in 20 years…so much so that Sean and TJ had a canoe adventure right through our property. Our thirsty soil was renewed!
The abundance of water allowed our cover crop to grow thick and beautiful, creating a perfect base for our vines as they begin to bud and bloom. The hills and pastures are a fairy-tale green and the California poppies are beginning to grow freely all over the ranch. We are so grateful for the much needed rain.
Now as the vines have experienced budbreak, we are looking forward to warmer weather and all of the wonders that come with it: picnics in the vineyard, horse rides through the back country, polo games, bike rides, and much more.
Our vines will enjoy the warm-up as well, while benefitting from the drenching they got this winter. We expect to see amazing quality and yield this year!
Grab a bottle of new release 2016 Sauvignon Blanc or a bottle of our classic Piocho Red Blend and enjoy this beautiful season! We would love to have you come visit. Thank you for being a loyal and integral part of our family.
