Dear Friends and Family,
Spring is a time of transformation at Happy Canyon Vineyard. The hills of our vineyard turn a vibrant green, the edges dotted with white and purple wildflowers. This contrasts with the backdrop of Figueroa Mountain, which is blanketed with the solid orange of California Poppies. As the landscape of the Santa Ynez hills change so does our vineyard. The buds of our vineyard slowly swell, breaking out of dormancy, on the road to flowering. The small rows of leaves on the vine signal the fruit to come.
The better weather means our vineyard is not the only thing on our ranch ready for a new start. Polo ponies begin their galloping around the arena, preparing for the competition of summer. The oak trees, with fresh green tips, hide red tailed hawks and owls. The usually barren and golden fields of our ranch are now grass-filled pastures full of hares, deer, and the occasional bobcat.
This is the essence and spirit of our ranch that we try to capture in every bottle of our wine. Whether it is our lively, slightly floral, and fruity Sauvignon Blanc, or the dark currant and oaky flavor of our Piocho, each taste of our wine showcases both contrast and balance. It is these characteristics that live throughout our ranch with the changing of seasons, and with passion and dedication we bottle it for all to enjoy.
Spring and summer are the best times to visit our tasting room or take a tour of our vineyards. Enjoy the colorful beauty of Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley firsthand, coupled with an incredible wine tasting experience.
